With so many of these customers now seeking ways to exit the product and move onto a modern platform, we decided to make that task as painless and affordable as possible. We created "Clear Escape".
As some of you may already know, MSI has actively embraced the Python programming language, and are deep into the process of converting our successful DAP environment onto this new and powerful platform. Python offers many advantages, not the least of which is rapid development time. Clear Escape is written entirely in Python, and forms a bridge between the old fashioned Clear Enterprise ISAM database and todays SQL based databases. Clear Escape already supports mySQL, Oracle, MS SQL, Postgress, SQLite, Informix and others.
Clear Escape examins your Clear Enterprise database schema (including any customisations to core tables or new tables) and reflects that schema directly into the SQL database. Having created the tables automatically (complete with primary keys indexes), it then copies all the data from the Clear database into the SQL database. Simple!
Ideally of course, you would then do various data extractions and conversions on the data to massage it into the format required for your replacement ERP package, however, this is MUCH easier once the data is in an SQL database to begin with.
